Most of you know (or know of) J.R. "Model T" Tate.

He is a member here on WhiteBlaze.net & an active member of ALDHA.

He is an author of 2 books now: "Walkin on the Happy Side of Misery" & the just released: "Walkin with Ghost Whisperers-Lore & Legends of the Appalachian Trail".

Well, he is NOW about to embark on his 4th A.T. Thru-hike on April 1st @ Springer.

This time his hike is a "pledge-per-mile" hike with all proceeds going to build a HOMELESS Shelter in the town of Clarksville,TN (Model T's hometown)

you can help him out by sending a flat donation or a pledge per mile by going to his website & printing out the PLEDGE FORM & then "snail mailing" it.

http://www.modelt.net/HikeforHope.html

Model T is recieving NO FUNDS from this fund-raiser. 100% of the money raised goes for the HOMELESS Shelter

THANKS for any & all your help.

I thought this was his second thru hike from end to end. When did he do the other two?

From http://modelt.net/Biography.html :

"... J.R. now has three Appalachian Trail thru-hikes worn into the soles of his boots. His first journey in 1990 with his irascible alter ego, Model-T., became a life-altering experience that shook the fabric of his soul and swept the opaque film of suburbia from his eyes. Smitten with a yearning for the mountains, he returned to the A.T. twice more, in 1994 & 1998 ..."

Thanks briarpatch. I knew he had done one and has been section hiking ever since but I never realized he did two complete thru hikes from end to end again in 1994 and 1998. Thanks again.
