Hitting the trail this weekend. I have a few freeze-dried meals but looking for some simple meals while hiking that I don't have to pull out my cooking equipment

For a weekend it doesn't much matter. Take about what you might cook at home. Even meat, eggs, bacon, cheese, cream, yogurt, lots of protein. For longer hikes, look into home dehydrating, and Amazon sells some great dehydrated foods including eggs, cheese, meat, whey protein powder...

Google Skurka Beans and Rice with Fritos and cheese. My family’s favorite.

Never underestimate the power of nuts. Cashew, peanut, almond, even sunflower seeds.

Yep, there are a few discussions about "no cook" or "stoveless" camping. Some of us do that all the time.

For a weekend:
Anything you can eat at home without cooking.
Fruit, nuts & seeds, nut butters, jerky, summer sausage, Slim Jim’s, pepperoni, cheese, Sandwich Thins, tortillas, 70% chocolate, Subway or similar sandwiches if they are convenient to the trail head.
No doubt there are more items for this list. Wander through a supermarket with an open mind.

I'm going this weekend as well. I plan to just bum a few meals off my hiking partner. Don't tell him.

PS - See you Sunday.

I only share the "been sitting in my cupboard for 6 months" food with hiking partners
