Going NoBo, the first 2.6 miles of this section are roadwalk. After that, there is 6.5 miles of trail before getting back on a road at FS3A.

Does anybody have any campsite recs for this 6.5 mile stretch? I'd appreciate it.

Could also use recs for section 29.

Sharing this in case it could help anyone else, from my friend who's hiked the whole trail:

Section 28: I camped with that guy I met right at the parking area at mile 2.6. There was flat ground in the woods like right next to the trail as it left the parking area. I'm 99% certain you could also find flat ground at the top of the ridge, mile 3.6. If you're willing to bushwhack off the forest roads a little ways, I bet you could fine good camping all the way up through mile 17.7.

Section 29: My memory's not as good here (I remember that^ spot very distinctively - it was at the end of the full-day road walk that I was scared I wouldn't be able to complete). I believe the next night we camped at mile 1.0 (sec 29, gap on county line). This rings a bell in my mind, and it makes sense mileage-wise. Otherwise, I'd expect to find options at 2.3 (probably hike up to the ridge to find flat ground), 2.7, and 5.6-8.0, plus maybe some options off of the FS roads miles 8.9-9.6. I know that there isn't camping along FS 18 - it was all homes and private property, and there were some bark-y (but not chasing or anything) dogs in there. Mulberry Gap Mountain Bike Getaway is right there though. Never been, but my dad has stayed there with mountain bike friends. He and others have said it's a pretty cool place.
