In Outside magazine, our very own Kathryn Miles wrote another great article, this one about Will "Akuna" Robinson completing a "triple crown."

Although the author states that the ALDHA doesn't maintain data on the gender, ethnicity, etc of triple-crown hikers, Mr. Robinson is the first known African-American to do it.

Mr. Robinson is an Army combat vet (Iraq, 2003), and by his own admission, he really didn't know a damned thing about distance hiking until.... read the article if you want to know the rest of the story.

Kathryn Miles has posted on WB before. Among other things, she wrote great articles for the Boston Globe about Geraldine Largay. I've read three of her books and they're all outstanding. If my memory is correct, she is a writer in residence at Green Mountain College

Very nice article. According to the article, he's the first African American male to complete the Triple Crown. Last year an African-American female completed all three trails.

Nice article and congrats to Akuna. Also, good for him volunteering with kids to promote getting them outdoors.
