Very dry here in Virginia. Planning to do Canopus Lake to Unionville in a week.

How is it up there? Are the listed reliable water sources likely still good?

How are the bugs/gnats/mosquitos this time of year?

Anything else I'm not thinking about but should?

Last I heard, running water sources in Harriman are mostly bone dry, which is not surprising. Fortunately Harriman has many lakes; but personally, when relying on Harriman lake water, I double-up treatment with both HFM/micropore and ClO₂. You won't be coming as far east as Harriman, sounds like; but I'd do the same for any water in the area.

I've read reports that springs up and down the entire mid-Atlantic region are dry.

Insect pressure should be minimal by now, but with the unusually warm weather the past couple of weeks, you never know.

You should be able to get water at the house below Pochuck Shelter. The AT store at rt 403 and Graymoor and Bear Mt.
I started at DWG on 9/7 and all was pretty dry. There was pretty good water NOBO after crossing Palisades interstate at wooden bridge.

Was in NY (CT border to Dennytown Rd.) two weeks ago. Very dry. Relied on the wells and towns. Carried 3L often. Bugs were virtually a non issue. Enjoy the trip.
