Just wanted to give a quick thanks to this site and everyone who lurks, contributes, posts, asks questions, etc. I've lurked for a long time gathering bits and pieces of information and knowledge. With your help, I completed my first section of the AT a few days ago!! It was just a 4.5 day trip from Amicalola to Dicks Creek Gap. I realize that is small potatoes to many of you, but it was a huge step for me and something that I have looked forward to doing since I was a boy. The weather was great, the scenery hit or miss, and the people were fantastic! Everything I knew the experience would be. The trail wasn't really a vacation but no other destination or trip has allowed me to leave all the worries of life behind and totally be present in the moment. I look forward to knocking out the next section very soon. Again, thank you! Cheers.
