Fractured arm. Ouch!

That's a bummer. Glad to see he has good spirits about the whole thing.

Too bad, but I bet it is only a temporary (no matter how long) setback. Stumpknocker may have gotten knocked by a stump or icy rock, but he's tough. Like that flaky governor out west, "he'll be back."

Best to you Stumpknocker.... and enjoy that new fried chicken place you found!

He is a tough one, anyone who can hike 33 miles in one day won't be on the sidelines for long.

As his transcriber this year I can tell you he called and told me I was out of a job... but like you all I bet he returns in 6-8 weeks. :)

already signed when I first found out. For anybody who has not yet met Stumpknocker he is a wonderful person and is willing to help any up and attempting thru hiker with advice like he did myself this year at the Ruck in PA.

I talked with Stumpknocker this morning. Bright and bubbly as ever. His glass is always full never half full. Should I say his coffee mug is full.... of Starbucks Coffee :sun That man loves his morning coffee!

When he is up to it we are going to pull up a couple of chairs near an AT crossing and become Trail Angels. We both love trail magic about as much as trail hiking.

Hope to see any late March or April 2006 starters here in GA.

That's one optimistic dude. Really positive in the face of adversity...

I took a fall in that same general spot, on the downhill from the RAM shelter. The promise of food just makes you zone out sometimes.

This makes me really glad that we came down out of the snow into Spring at that spot last year. I met Stumpknocker in VT last year on my thru and he's a great guy. Any bets as to whether he goes SOBO again when his arm heals up? :D

Ouch.

Well, falling off a mountain is better then falling of a couch.

I spent the morning with Stumpknocker today. He specifically mentioned how amazed and pleased he was to find all the messages on his trail journal. Thanks to everyone who sent a message as I could tell it really pleased him.

He looks good, we had a bunch of laughs but I didn't hear him say he would try a SOBO anytime soon.

Sent me a thank you note for my well wishes. Never met him, but seems like the right sort of guy for... pretty much anything.
