I'm grateful for their service. Today, while observing this special day I met a WWII veteran in a restaurant. Talked to him for a few min, thanked him for his awesome service. He was 94 years young.

I was fortunate to have talked quite a bit with my Dad (WWII/Europe) before he passed away in 2009 -- although he certainly wasn't chatty about it. But I did learn enough about his experiences to be able to pass his stories on to our family's next generation.
On Veteran's Day, I encourage people to remember that we are honoring all of our veterans, not just those who have served in war. Most of the men and women who have served our country haven't been in any combat zone, and nobody is going to make a movie about them. And that makes them especially worthy of our attention and respect.
To all of you who have served, at any time in any capacity: my respect. Thank you.

My Dad is 94 1/2 and a WWII vet. I took him out for fried chicken (his favorite food) yesterday. A group of local ROTC high school cadets in uniform came in to have lunch between Veterans Day events they were attending. I thought back to 1943, when my Dad was 18 and fresh out of High School, he was only slightly older than those "kids" in the restaurant when he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. I will be forever grateful for the courage and sacrifice that my Dad and all Veterans have made. Thank you to every one of you.

I was privileged to have the opportunity play my fiddle in a patriotic program with 25 other musicians at a senior living center. The room was packed with seniors and was SRO.
Many of the seniors cried, it was very moving.
My best Veterans Day ever.
