I recently bought a used lunar solo tent. It came with the 49” carbon pole. I would rather use one of my trekking poles but haven’t found any videos or threads as to whether the trekking pole tip would damage the tent. The pocket for the top of the pole fits my trekking pole tip but I’m concerned with damaging the tent once I put tension on it. Anyone familiar with this tent and use a trekking pole to set it up?

Not an issue. My trekking pole has held up my lunar solo for many nights.

The only damage that ever happened when I owned one of these was me not paying attention and scraping the mesh with the tip putting it in the cup.

I put the pointy end of the pole on the ground and the handle end at the top of the tent with my lunar solo.

Is it intended to be tip up or tip down?

I have a SD Tensegrity that is tip down, and that makes a great deal of sense to me. When I discovered that at least some trekking-pole-supported tents are tip-up, I can see how a second's carelessness or clumsy effort could be costly. Given a choice, I would not want one that is meant to be tip-up.

I use tip up, there's a little brass grommet to put the tip into.
