I have been a member here on WhiteBlaze.net since nearly the beginning. I have read every book up until the last 5 years or so about thru-hikes and thru-hiking. I have 10 plus copies of Wingfoot. I have sectioned hiked for over 40 years. I have dreamed of one day retiring early and thru-hiking the AT.

I Leave tomorrow to head to North Georgia and start my Thru-Hike.

Enough Said!

Love the AT and the community so just wanted to share with ya'll. The greatest adventure of my life starts now.

Seems like you are well prepared but, still, be careful out there. We are still in winter and weather can be treacherous. Saying that, Good Luck:clap

Totally green with envy, Go have some fun . Say you've been section hiking 40 years, On the AT ? I would think you've seen all of it by now but a through hike is different eh. Please come back and let us know how you did. You're young maybe a triple crown? And what other trails are you looking to do. Congrats and godspeed!

Congrats. Looks like your have decent weather for your start. A few days of light rain next week, but not too cold. "Start slow - and then slow down" ;) Enjoy!

My how the AT has changed since you were first excited by the trail. Don't think Wingfoot would recognize the trail culture today but many of the changes are for the good !!!!
