Which is the correct plural for aspen trees, aspens or aspen? I'm not from Colorado, but I love aspen(s) and don't want to sound like a fool.

The original Anchorman script:

"It's a fact. Aspen are the greatest tree in the history of mankind. Discovered by the Germans in 1904. They named them Aspen, which of course in German means a whale's vagina."

In Maine the correct plural of aspen is "poplars." Those of us who are nitpickers for accuracy prefer, "popples."
