opened all the windows in the house...built a fire in my living room..as I lay in my sleeping bag eating ramen and gorp by the warm glow of burning backpacker magazines!!!

-spend many friday nights in my hammock in the backyard, regardless of weather, if i can't be out that weekend... sometimes, you just gotta sleep outside...
-built another alcohol stove...
-downloaded the WB screensaver, so i can go on mental hikes during the day...
-posted pictures at my desk, so i can go on mental hikes during the day...
-play with my gear list spreadsheet at work, so i can...

...that I carried some firewood into the house, stoked the woodstove, and cooked some oatmeal, just like I do on the Trail. Later, I jogged down the dirt road in front of my house in a snowstorm, determined to hit the trail (the CDT in this case) at an 18 mpd clip right off the bat, despite my advancing age, while thinking of the profound sense of quiet and peace, as well as the transcendent beauty of the Continental Divide.
