:welcome One of my favorite loop hikes in the Chattahoochee is to take the Byron Reese Trail to the Freeman Trail to Bird Ga. At Bird Gap you hit the AT and go north over Blood Mountain back to the Byron Reese Trail. Its about 7-8 miles. Here is a trip report I found online. Enjoy!

One more thing. AT Bird Gap, you're a stones throw from the Woods Hole Shelter on the AT. You could overnight there. Or you could camp at the new campsites just built off of the AT on the flanks of Blood Mountain. Its a nice simple overnight hike. Park is relatively safe in the Forest Service lot. The trailhead is just downhill from the Mountain Crossing outfitter at Neels Gap.

The loop Mowgli suggested is a good one, and one I've done on the trail in GA probably more than any other.

My current favorite loop trail which I take with my family in GA is to go to Lake Winfield Scott and hike the blue blazed trail to Jarred Gap on the AT, then hike N on the AT (stopping for lunch at Woods Hole) to Slaughter Gap where I take the blue blazed trail back to Lake Winfield Scott. We then go swimming on the sandy beach lake.
