Not necessarily on the trail, but still a great story.

I am not that surprised by this. We live in what is arguably the New York Metro Area, and our neighborhood is loaded with them. Cats, go out at your peril!

The only thing I am sorry about with coyotes is that they don't pack hunt so can't impact the deer population at all.

Why not. If we had them on Spectacle Island in the middle of Boston Harbor a few years ago, then why not in Central Park.

We've been seeing a return of unlikely wildlife here in the city. Peregrin falcons, red tailed hawks...The endless supply of squirrrels, rats, and pigeons coupled with the cliff-like condtions of the buildings surronding central park create a perfect nesting evironment for raptors. Why not coyotes? Maybe the bears next...I hope so!

Bad news for the Coyote, I heard the other day he died from "unknown causes" while still in captivity. Probably just the stress of being in a cage...

Coyotes are vermin. Extermination would be good.

We couldn't do it if we tried. In fact, we already did, and failed.

They are among the most adaptable and sly creatures in the planet.

They are also among the most spiritually significant animals for many native tribes, who beleived Coyote to be a very old spirit characterized by sneakiness, survival, humor, and aggressive sexuality. -not ususally a threat, but you are risking to turn your back on Coyote.

That's also what some tribal members call white colonials. Interesting.

I was taught wilderness skills from a man who learned from a man who saw a vision that he would teach a young coyote the art of scout tracking. That coyote was Tom Brown.

Coyotes are vermin. Extermination would be good. Now, now. Anything that eats cats and poodles can't be all bad.

That certainly describes a girlfriend I once had. Now I know from whence she was reincarnated.

If you mean the type that smuggles illegal immigrants into the US, I agree.

Maine has an abundance of coyote and the state and locals have tried to reduce the numbers by trapping, shooting, poisioning, etc. etc. to no avail.
For every coyote destroyed, another one is there to take it's place. Forget about controlling em.
