Yes, I have been spoiled by the AT. Books with elevations and road crossings and even topo maps for every mile of the trail.

Is there anything similar for The Pinhoti Trail? Even piecing it together by buying maps separate from a book?

So the answer is that there is no ONE complete guide with maps.

Thanks for the links and the suggestion of GutHook. But in some things I am still old school and like paper. But I will more than likely use GutHook if I hike this trail.

So while I have people's attention, It would seem this is a trail one would probably hike in spring or Fall, but not summer. I am wondering how late into the fall this trail would be "comfortable" as I am NOT a winter hiker. I am a cold sleeper but usually can be comfortable to the mid 40's. And yes, I will survive lower temps but just not as enjoyably when sleeping.

I've only hiked the Alabama section, but I have to say that it is one of the best marked trails I've hiked if that helps.

that does help some. I also have a support "system" that will be taking care of me for resupplies beginning with my next hike. theotherhalf and I are going mobile in 5 months and while he slaves away all week, I get to backpack and he will be picking me up on weekends.

Since most can thru the AL section in 14 days and GA section in less time, if you don't have to reserve an airplane flight to get here, just check 14 day weather forcast to avoid most severe winter cold and come on down even in winter.

I went NOBO in Dec. At the PT's northern terminus took the BMT SOBO to Springer Mt. It's not the deep winter hike that might be assumed. As JC13 aka Leonidas said it can be hiked Oct to Mar as the best times.
