Hi! What are people's opinions of the Kammock mantis UL for thru hiking? I'm a little new to hammocking and do plan on getting some snake skins. Are there other things that I should get and swap out with what came with the mantis? Do you guys like the mantis? Any general tips? Here to learn :)

All-in-one hammock systems are a great way to get into hammocking. The Mantis UL is a fine package.

You might also take a look at the Hammock Gear Wanderluxe (https://hammockgear.com/the-wanderluxe/), which will get you a Dyneema tarp right out of the gate, and which includes an option to add a premium topquilt and underquilt in the bundle.

You can start hammocking using a mummy bag and sleeping pad, but nearly everyone switches to quilts eventually.

I did pick up an eno ember underquilt when it was on sale. What's a dyneema tarp? Also, while looking on their website I saw an underquilt protector. Do you think they're important?

A dyneema tarp is a lighter weight option. It's expensive but a great choice if you count ounces. I personally don't use an underquilt protector because I use a Hex Fly that provides more than enough coverage.
