For those who may want to double check spelling in a post, there is a free spell checker that can attach to Microsoft Explorer and other browsers. It is very easy to check spelling in a forum posting on WhiteBlaze.net

ieSpell is a free Internet Explorer browser extension that spell checks text input boxes on a web page. It should come in particularly handy for users who do a lot of web-based text entry (e.g. web mails, forums, blogs, diaries). Even if your web application already includes spell checking functionality, you might still want to install this utility because it is definitely much faster than a server-side solution. Plus you get to store and use your personal word list across all your applications, instead of maintaining separate ones on each application.

The program installs as a new button in the IE tool bar (as well as a new menu item under "Tools") - after filling in a form, just hit the ieSpell button and it pops up a dialog, similar to the MS Word spell check. ieSpell also works (right-click menu only) on other IE based browsers.

I went to download ie spell. It downloaded a worm or something for me to click on. It was a registry cleaner. I didn't click on it...I shut the box down from my task manager. I'm sure Clark had nothing to do with it....just what happened to me. Be aware.

I've never used iespell, but the geek forums say it's clean. See MajorGeeks' description: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2476

It sounds like you've got adware on your computer, shadesofblue. The pop-up you got while trying to access iespell, was advertising. To get rid of adware/spyware, you might try Spybot Search & Destroy, or AdAware. Both are legitimate programs.

Once you've cleaned-up your computer, you might consider a different browser. Firefox works great for me....but then iespell wouldn't work.

Maybe so...and I have stuff to clean it up. However....it happened going from the link to the download site I didn't go anywhere in between, this particular thing had never happened on my computer....so I just thought I would post the warning. YMMV.

get a google tool bar, you can search without having to go to their site, it blocks pop-ups, and you get a spell check.

And it works with mozilla/firefox/etc, as well.

If they do I am not sure why. I went to one site and got all kinds of crap on my computer without doing anything. The guy that lives across the street that works on computers for a living said he has never seen such a "f'd" up computer. He suggested I reformat, that's how bad it is.

I personally use the Opera browser. I love it but may try out the firefox one people are talking about.
