Bit early to plan a SoBo start that includes Katahdin. Glad things worked out.

Does this mean that if one wants to hike up using the Knife Edge, you have to use Helon Taylor to get both up and down?

Will this likely change by late July/early August?

Currently you can loop around via Hamlin Ridge and Chimney Pond. All trails should be open by July.

On Tuesday, June 1, Traveler and all Katahdin trails with the exception of Saddle will be open.
The Tote Road is open to Phoenix Turn from the south and Trout Brook Crossing from the North.
