Four new shelters were intsalled along the 137 mile AL Pinhoti in the last couple of months. Here's a link for more info;

Hike this great trail before it gets too hot - if you have the time. Its a great warm-up for a thru-hike.

Was on the 'Bama Pinhoti this weekend in the Cheaha State Park area. Very pretty, some traffic but not crowded. The new shelters don't appear on my trail maps; spotting one of those would have convinced me I'd screwed up my navigation again.

They're planning a new shelter inside Cheaha SP - just north of the Cheaha Wilderness. I'm not sure why they picked that spot as the Blue Mountain Shelter is just a few miles north of there. I guess their studies indicate a need to focus the use. The Cheaha Wilderness gets busy at times with lots of campsites along the ledge. Check your local listings for this new shelter sometime later this year.

Send me a PM if you need more than that. I have a trail guide from a year ago that I could potentially share.
