Last I heard was that Heald was at Fontana yesterday....
he's doin it again huh....does he still have a dog???
I hiked with him and dog wonder in November. She is old, but still alive and kicking. Man can that dog hike. She pays no attention to anything but the trail in front of her. If you are ever in a shelter with her say "Verrrrrminnn" and watch her go nuts.

The dog looked like it was on it's last leg when I saw it at Miss Janet's over Thanksgiving. But then again, so did a well known hiker (and friend) the last time I saw him and he's out there again!
is that the heald from 2000 miles to maine???

I gave them both a ride to the ingles in Hiawassee on St. Pattys day, Really cool guy.

Dog's name is Annie and she has hiked 15000+ miles with him! Great dog ran into him near Buzzard Rock in Va around Tgiving. One of the best trail dogs I have ever seen. He was working at Neels Gap this winter.

Cloud9 had the pleasure of accomodating this AMAZING twosome for two nights around March 20 here in Hiawassee. Annie slept A LOT while they were here....she made herself comfy on a cushion from a chair off the porch to stay dry.. right near the fire place. Laura

I met them @ Neels Gap in March. Annie was still getting along fine. What a great dog.

We fed them potatoes, eggs and pancakes at Street Gap yesterday morning and then slacked them the 22 miles into Miss Janets in Erwin, Tn.
I gave them both a ride to the ingles in Hiawassee on St. Pattys day, Really cool guy.
i tell you, he's funnier than all get out in the shelter journals, that dude can write a story.....
i should see him soon...........

Hi guys, Squeaky's mum here, I met Heald at 'Springer Mountain' when Squeaky finished his 'Triple Crown', Heald, Annie, Namie and his dogs came back there and stayed the night. Do not know where he is now, but what a funny dog, I was just up at our local pub and telling the guys there how this dog laughs when Heald comes back to him, he actually shows his teeth and really laughs, he looks so cool I have never seen a dog laugh like this. It still makes me smile to this day.
Wherever you are Heald , Good Luck to you and Annie, and nice to have met you.
