Emma was the first woman to hike the AT solo in 1955 at 67 years old, after raising 11 children and suffering years of domestic abuse. In 1957 she thru hiked it a second time and in 1964 a third time in sections.
She also hiked 2,000 miles of the Oregon trail!!!!!
