ModelT plans to be in Damascus for Trail Days, and will be set up in front of Mount Rogers Outfitters, available to sign his books. This will be both Friday and Saturday from 10 until 12. Here's the way it appears on the schedule. I just added this last night:

Book Signing, Walkin' with the Ghost Whisperers: Lore and Legends of the Appalachian Trail by J. R. "Model T" Tate at Mount Rogers Outfitters, 110 West Laurel Ave.

Richard (which actually is my real trail name for the past half-century or so)

My wife and I were section hiking the AT in Vermont Northbound and met ModelT and Ranger Dawg this past Tuesday, August 15th while climbing Quimby Mountain (that's just east of Killington). We had a nice chat and talked about the coincidence of us meeting him in Northern Vermont on our next to last day of hiking the entire Long Trail in 2003.
Today, while we drove back toward Vermont from Hanover we spotted the two hiking on the sidewalk just east of the Connecticut River (the VT/NH) border. They hiked the last 50 miles in Vermont in two and a half days.
