I dont know if I have ever heard complaints about the Inn on the Long Trail. The Yellow Deli (and hostel) in Rutland is definitely controversial, but many ignore the ties to a cult and have a good time. https://www.middleburycampus.com/article/2022/01/s13ra9jrel0i

The inn on the long Trail is a fantastic place to stay!
I stayed there a couple nights a few years ago snowshoeing and skiing. They have a great Irish restaurant and pub.

12 tribes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_Tribes_communities

If you want to debate the term "cult" feel free. It has been done on whiteblaze multiple times when discussing 12 tribes.

I stayed at The Inn at Long Trail in June. Maybe my favorite near-o or zero on the whole trail. It’s a rustic ski lodge. Clean, comfy room, laundry, library, Irish pub downstairs with great food, free and fantastic breakfast. It’s also affordable, with convenient bus stops if you need to go to Killington or Rutland. I was there between hiker bubbles and practically had the place to myself.

The Inn at the Long Trail is at the start of the Killington -> NH dog leg. I don't believe there is any convenient lodging along that section. Maybe a B+B ($$$) Anyway, it can be done in a few days.
