I just found an interview with Joan Young (http://www.trailcast.org/programs/48) over at Trailcast.org. It's about the North Country Trail and Joan's book about her section hikes. I'm listening to it now and it's pretty informative and interesting.

I haven't been on the NCT (yet!) but Joan Young is an awesome lady.

Besides hiking nearly 3/4 of the NCT, Joan is also the webmaster for www.northcountrytrail.org (http://www.northcountrytrail.org) the NCT's home page. Busy little lady.:clap

Next to Brett Tucker of the G.E.T., I'd say Joan Young is one of the hardest working trail advocates out there.

Joan will be starting another section of the NCT on Wed or Thur I believe - sometime this week anyway. She will be hiking about 160 miles through the Adirondacks. This hike will include about 20 miles of pure bushwhack along the proposed route. Getting a route through the Adirondacks has been a long time coming, still isn't finalized, but getting close.

I am privileged to call her a personal friend. Have to agree with you samh, she is quite a lady!
