Hey, everyone. In researching shelters for my section hike of the Mass AT, I came across this document:

"2023 Appalachian Trail Shelter listing" published by this site - https://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/articles/2023-Shelters.pdf

For fun, I looked up the Liberty Springs Tentsite, USFS / ATC shelter. But I couldn't find it. The listings go from Kinsman Shelter at mile 1818 to Garfield Shelter at 1833. Liberty Springs is between these, right on the AT. Bunch of platforms, privy, bear boxes, good water etc.

I stayed here on Aug 21 (last week) while doing a Pemi Loop, and met a bunch of great thru and section hikers.

More info at: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/whitemountain/recarea/?recid=74667

Why is this location not in this document? Who might I contact to get it added?

Thanks!

- Joseph

Per the prior poster, there hasnt been a shelter at Liberty Springs for decades unless you want to count the privy;). Its managed and permitted like the other sites in the whites that have a shelter but no shelter. The 1/4 mile rule applies to this campsite and messes with the former large area of camping used by thru hikers on the ridgeline

Of course! It's a tentsite, no shelter. Oops!

I have ridden out a storm in a portopotty.
