Universal FingerLight for $2

Found this new toy in the Walmart checkout line for like $1.89. Looks like it'll work better than the mini-photons because I can attach it to stuff. This model doesn't look quite as durable, though.

It is more expensive though at $12.99, weighs less then 1/2oz., and waterproof. Comes in Red, Green, White, and Amber. Might be a little tougher also if your looking for something to stand up to abuse. Hope this helps!

I've tried the cheaper Photon look a likes and found that they don't last very long. I went back to the expensive, yet durable and reliable Photon II. I did find that if you change the batteries in those cheapies to the same batteries that are in the Photon (cost about $2 for the 2 batteries) they will last longer but eventually the switch will break and the pushbutton part will stay on and drain your batteries while in your pack.
Never had a problem with the Photon except losing parts myself when trying to change the battery.
I've already used one for 2 thru-hikes. I don't carry anything else anymore unless i'm winter or late fall hiking or camping. (then i add a headlamp)

Tin Man from Anti gravity sent me a free tiny photon with an attatchment loop in my last gear order...it is perfect, order his stuff, its great..

I second the durability - I had one survive months of daily use and abuse in Afghanistan and then killed it in one washer/dryer cycle at home. It came apart in the dryer and I fiddled with it for a while (some parts got bent) as I could still get the light to work then got some princeton tec impulses on clearance at Campmor. Had it not been for the dryer I would surely have it today.

I met Red B at Miss Janet's house not too long ago and he uses one of these on his dog's collar. Great idea for keeping an eye on the pooch after dark.
