Mountain Hardwear is using a “Clamcleat™ Line-Lok™ CL260” on at least some of the tents they are now shipping. These work with 2 – 5 mm (5/64 – 3/16”) line. They are certainly better than most of the line tensioners that you find in the outfitter stores. Supposedly the Line-Loks have been tested up to 200# tension. Clamcleat also makes cleats rigged on a rope for other line sizes. See http://www.clamcleat.com/cleats/cleats.asp?theid=8.
Although I have mostly used a taught-line hitch to tension a tie-out, I find that the Line-Lok is much easier to use, especially on 2.2 mm spectra line.
I found the CL260 on line for $6.08 for a pack of eight at http://www.svendsens.com/shoponline/. Search for “C260” rather than “CL260”. Many marine supply stores carry Clamcleat products, although they may not stock this particular item. However, they will likely order them for you. West Marine carries them at an inflated price of $4.69 for four (West Marine part # 1158062).
