I'm too damn lazy to drag everything I own to the post office. Any suggestions on a decent cheap scale? Something that can handle 8-10 lbs?

I bought the eX2 which weights up to 160 oz (10 lb) in 0.1 oz increments.

If you don't want to go to wal-mart, you can find a myriad of cheap postal scales on e-bay and have it delivered right to your home. That's where I got mine.

RH;

Where did you find a digital scale at walmart? What is its max weight?

WalMart has scales in the pots/pans/
cooking accessories section. I got a
digital one for Xmas.
They max at 5 lbs., which is good for hikers.
Just weigh each item separately and add
'em up.

The fish scales are in sporting goods,
but I prefer the food scale.

I looked at them all!-)
(never did find that 'grease pot' tho'.)

I got my scale at Staples Office Supplies. It's a postal scale and cost me about $12. It's a 5 pound scale which is all I needed to weigh the individual peices of gear/clothing. I also have a Wal-Mart fishing scale that goes up to 50 lbs. Accurate to within a pound or so. For total backpack weight I just get on the bathroom digital scale with/without the pack on my back.

Thanks.

BTW, I just found the grease pot yesterday (didn't buy it). It was on a bottom shelf next to two other "grease catcher type" items.

I bought a reguler fish weighing scale at a Bass Pro Shop megastore in Charlotte NC. Wow, what a store!!!

Anyway, it was cheap about $10 weighs up to 50lbs if you can hod it up to read it. This is the type that has a hook on it. For increments of 1/2 lbs it's ok. Not much of a use if you're looking for ounces.

It's never been fishing so it hasn't been wet,so right now it's pretty darn accurate.

I used it to weigh HH's 50lb pack.

I got a Royal EX3 with 3 pound limit at Wal-Mart. They are in the section that has shredders, mailer envelopes, etc. I think it cost about $25.

I hung my fish scale from the basement ceiling with a piece of webbing.

Deb, that's the smart thing to do but, I'm afraid if I take down to the basement I'll never find it again.

BTW, HH has a light pack, mine weighs close to 50 or it did, I've gotten it down a little bit. I was just trying to get a rise out of HH I think she's PO'd at me.......:(
