View Full Version : Making Jeep Hammock?
I want to make a hammock for my jeep. I can use any material cause I don't have to worry about weight. I was wondering if I could use an old jerzey t-shirt material comforter. Its cotton with synthetic fill. Would it be strong enough to support me or because of the stitching in the comforter, would I fall threw. Mainly asking Jeff cause I saw his but any advice from anyone would be appreciated.

I just used a normal Speer-type hammock, and wrapped some of the material at the ends around the roll bars. That lets it open up a bit more.
The comforter material might be strong enough - depends on exactly what kind you're talking about. But it might be too bulky to wrap the ends around, so you might be too confined inside.
You could always just use some Walmart $1 bin ripstop nylon, then add a second layer of more comfortable material like cotton or fleece. But if you have the comforter on hand, you might as well try it...you'll only fall a few inches if it fails!
Thanks Jeff, knew I caould count on you. I have the Unlimited so I think it will be longer so I might be able to install a ridge line. I'll let you know what I come up with.
