Hiker Rescued After Appalachian Trail Fall
(AP) SANDY HOOK, Md. A hiker is hospitalized with back injuries following his rescue last night along the Appalachian Trail near Sandy Hook.
Firefighters say the man had been hiking with three other people about 5 pm when he fell about 30 feet from a cliff into a ravine.
Rescue workers needed the other hikers to help them find him. They used a rope system to lift him back to the cliff. He was flown from there to Washington County Hospital in stable condition.
The man is said to be in his 20s. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
