A real wet spring! And that low swampy area in Mass will be even worse!

I wish it would rain here (Ohio). My lawn is actually turning a bit brown. In early May, that's crazy.
wrong again, not wet at all, no bugs, no lobsters, no nothing, just a great spring season here in Maine.

Bugs are always bad in the summer anywhere on the East coast. Guess you just gotta live with it.:eek: ~GB

The woods are so dry up at Baxter they might start next week's overnight camping season off with a campfire ban. If it stays this dry the MATC will have to postpone the annual Black Fly release until June.

That rain must not have made it all the way over from Dayton. We've had a great Spring, rains just when it's supposed to.

yah it was also one of the dryest winters in recent history, New England usually has several big snowstorms I think we only had one real bad one this year. Its long long since melted.

That rain must not have made it all the way over from Dayton.You guys always get more rain than Columbus. Seems to break-up on the way down I-70. Must be the road construction.
Well it's raining in Mass now and it's supposed to for the rest of the week. We realy needed it though. Should spread out the stocked trout a little. Black flys are already out in force and the skeeters will follow soon.

Yes I got out one time and went to the Rangeley area and put about 200 miles on my sled that day. Besides that I put about 60 other miles on it around the home area. So compared to last years 3,400 miles I only put about 260 miles on it this year. I was very disappointed yesr to say the least.

Gee Troll, I live 20 miles north of you and never took my snowmobile out of the barn. I am on the ski patrol and if it hadn't been for snowmaking our area would not have even opened. Cape Cod got several snow storms but all melted in a day or two. We just got none to speak of. However it had no effect on the black flies, they just came out early. Stream crossings will be easier for hikers but the black flies mayl carry you across if you let them. Bring lots of DEET until the dragonflies come out and eat the little buggers
What about the mud? Are there both black flies and mud? I'd love to try a hike next week. (may 22)

the way that its raining right now i'd say there's gonna be no more dirt for the water to turn to mud : (
i feel like we're in portland OR aka puddlesburg........
There were almost no bugs in the Bigelows this weekend but it was wet and muddy!!
