www.atbound.blogspot.com (http://www.atbound.blogspot.com) I started on 4/5/06 and am currently in Troutville, Va taking a much needed day off to get the shin splint to stop throbbing and get the blog updated. If ya got time, check out my daily blog.:) Im trying to keep it updated weekly. Its not easy but I'll keep at it as long as there are computers available... Later all... And happy trails....

I am getting ready to start a flip-flop starting in 16 days in SNP. I noticed that he is doing big miles every day. Could this be the reason for the shin splints? Is the drive to do big miles that over welling? Please give your input as to this perceived drive to go big miles. I know I want to only start with 7-8 miles per day. Any adivise as to the mind games I will be facing?

Most hikers seen to make it to Erwin in about a month. That seems to be the average. He did it in about 3 weeks which is a little fast but not haulin' ass either.

The only mind games I anticipate will be internal. Wanting to keep up with others when most of them you will see again anyway. For example, he may lose most of that week nursing shin splints. Still a month before leaaving Erwin, right?

He does seem to be doing some decent mileage. I'm with kyerger, slow and steady wins the race

shin splints can be treated in a day with good compression and motrin... :sun I enjoyed the trip immensely and have a daily journal posted at www.atbound.blogspot.com (http://www.atbound.blogspot.com) . Lots of pics and more... My recommendation for daily milage is to do what suites you... but do take time to enjoy yourself and your surroundings...:)
