The only thing relevant about this is that some of the streams shown in the videos on the link below parallel the AT north of Damascus. Sections of these streams after a heavy rain become class III, IV, and maybe even V in difficulty. These are big files and need a fast connection. The videos are of Simon and Dennett, both certifiably insane:

Reminded me of Town Creek in NE Alabama at around 2500 CFS around 15 years ago. I've done the Gauley and was the first low-volume yak down the GC in '79, but the hair creeks are the best...
