The new shelter in TN is open for business. A great, big THANK-YOU to all who helped in its construction, including Hard-Core and other hikers that took a “zero” to help. There is still a little bit of work to complete, but what is left is minor stuff.

Some data:
- approximately 9.0 miles N of Apple House Shelter
- approx 8.5 miles N of 19E
- approx 9.1 miles S of Moreland Gap Shelter
- approx 15.2 miles S of Dennis Cove Rd
- sleeps approx 14
- water source is 200 feet. Follow Blue Blazer in front of shelter.
- no privy

We were there. Carried in some lumber and watched it go from footings to full frame the first day. Here is a pic of where things stood on Sunday.

You're welcome for the info. Here is a more finished pic. The "bench" everyone is sitting on is actually the eating/cooking surface. A sitting bench will be made later.

Too late. The day the roof and the sides were finished a mouse  was seen in the lumber pile. It had made a nice, little nest. After it scurried away, hopefully it found residence elsewhere...

No credit to me. I was a helper just like everyone else. All credit goes to TN Eastman Hiking Club and their crew. Thanks to them.

Admin,

Should this thread be moved to the TN subforum? When I originally posted, I didn't realize there was a TN subforum. Oops, sorry.

Great shots ...thanks for sharing. Wish I could have been there for the grand finale. But at least I did have the opportunity to help out with the framing.

Thanks to all who worked to make this happen. I had a terrible day on that 18 mile section last year. It took half a day to thaw out at Kincora. I will be sure to plan to stay there when The Sundance Kid and I pass thru on our Thruhike in 07. It looks fantastic. Butch Cassidy GAME 07 (Paladin GAME 05).
