Updates and Corrections
The 2003 edition of the Companion was compiled in the fall of 2002 and published in early 2003. This page outlines corrections and updates and received since publication. It will be maintained until the next edition is published in early 2004. Updates are arranged by Companion section, from Georgia to Maine.

Page 22 - Tellico Gap
The Tellico Gap Hiker's Hostel has closed.
March 11, 2003 Page 28 - Mt. Collins Shelter
The Mt. Collins Shelter is located between Clingman's Dome and U.S. 441/Newfound Gap. The location and mileage in the shelter summary on page 18 are correct.
March 10, 2003 Page 37 - Chestoa Bridge/Erwin, Tenn.
The Holiday Inn Express offers one free pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream per room booked at hiker's rates. There are two new businesses next door: A&W Root Beer and Long John Silver's.

How exactly are you going to get the updates? Carry a laptop? Or just call home and have someone else read it over the phone?

Librarys have computers, a lot of hostles have them, and of course I can always call home. Heck, I was at my bank the other day and I needed to see something so the loan officer let me borrow the computer for a few minutes.

Interesting. I woudn't have expected hostels to have computers. And I wouldn't have expected most of the small towns to have local libraries.
Is the PC and library info listed in the guides?

I know it's in the Companion, it's probably in the Guidebook too.
One of the reasons I added a coffeeshop in Millinocket to the Companion was that they had internet access.
You have to list the things that today's hiker is looking for - good coffee and a chance to check email!:D
