I'm looking for a small storage bag to keep mess kits in, a while back I found some on the web and thought I saved it, but I can't seem to find it. Any Ideas would be great, I need one for 7" dia and about 4" tall. I"ve checked everywhere local and the web and can't find any.

Use an onion bag from the grocery store. Cut to size and thread a drawstring thru it. Can't get much cheaper or lighter.

Agree with Jeff. I did that, and it also doubled as a pot scrubby.

in girl scouts we made messkit bags (dunk bags) by sewing together two washcloths and weaving a string through the top for a drawstring. they were the cheap hole-y kind of washcloths.

Hrm...now there's an interesting idea for folks who like pack towels. Make it into a stuff sack and keep your toiletries in it. I have a pack towel that I never bring - I might just make myself a new stuff sack!

Cook kit bags are important to me because i often cook on fires. I just sewed one up to fit my pot out of sil nylon. I keep my spare (small bic) lighter in there too.
Or, if you can't sew very good, take a lightweight stuff sack that you have and cut it down and just sew the bottom again.

Old mosquito netting works for that, too. With a draw string around the opening all you have to do to dry dishes is drop them in and whirl them over your head, thus not needing a towel. Although it wouldn't make
as good a pot scrubber as the onion bag.
