Has anyone devised a way to refill the 4 and 8 oz. stove canisters?

I fully understand that doing so could be hazardous without the proper equipment. But it would seem like a reasonable undertaking if adequate pressure monitoring/regulating equipment was used. I hate to have to throw away the used canisters. Also hate the price of new ones.

I would like to know the answer to that question as well – or at least a way to recycle the metal MSR cannisters I have.

My friend back home in PA has an adaptor that he claims works. He says it cost about $.25 to fill the medium size propand cannister that is used for his pocket rocket. He showed me the adaptor he uses. I don't remember where he got it

Not a good idea.

Unless you could find the 70/30 or 80/20 mix ratio used in the standard canister. Butane's storage pressure is 25 lbs/sq in, and propanes is 100. The canisters were never designed to hold only propane. Wallyworld clearances the winter mix every spring and visa versa every fall. I just stock up at $2 a canister every year.
