Thought I'd share some photos of some recent jaunts.
Every so often somone posts about 'training" for a thru-hike.
My idea of training involves hiking and backpacking
with some wine and a no-bake cheese-cake while at a
campfire. :-)

The Lost Creek Wilderness trip took place (partially)
on the Colorado Trail. On this trip, I saw Roni -some
of you "know him" from the DVD "Walk" by Squatch. He
immed. pegged D-low (a buddy from PCT in 2002 and just
did the CDT last year) as thru-hiker types. Rather
funny! We sat down and talked quite a while.

On this trip was also my buddy Nahum. Like Roni, Nahum
is Israeli. To make this an even smaller world, Roni
and Nahum know many of the same astrophysicists in Tel
Aviv! (Roni was a grad student in astrophysics, Nahum
did his undergrad work there and is currently a prof
studying quasars at CU). Small world to say the least.
Think Roni enjoyed talking to Nahum more than D-low
and I. :D

This past weekend, did a mainly off-trail jaunt to
Bard Peak. Wonderful tundra hiking with great views of
the divide! D-low pointed out the route I'll be taking
soon. Was a great way to spend some of my last time in
Colorado before the big trip. At 18miles and 5k elev
gain (and topping out at 13600) was a bit of a but
kicker..but oh so gorgeous. Life ain't bad at times.

One final "social hike' this week and then off to
Montana on June 28th. Woo hoo!
