well i decided to look around and see what i coul find for making stoves and one thing i stumbled across were some mini tealights for a candle set given as a gift. I used a pocket knife to do the whole thing, this little stove isnt very good as a main stove but great to heat up a cup of joe.
i dont have the specifics, but i know it doesnt hold enough fuel for a boil and weighs less than a regular tea light ion stove

Quarter for size comparison

The candle that was in it

P.S. if you would like some more photos let me know but i figure since its just a mini version it doesnt need anything else

From the photos it looks to be a standard tea light, like what HOI uses.

Well I'll be. That is small. What's the diameter? Like 1" or thereabouts?

Too bad they don't make those things 1"-1 1/2" tall so they would hold more fuel.

Just lookin around a while back found a little dodad in a box of stuff.

Made a complete stove out of it. Tiny little thing. Not good for anything, tooo small, has a fiberglass cloth wick and a hardware cloth pot stand.

Zelph,

Is that an old style pop bottle fizz saver? Aluminum with a rubber gasket that slides up and down within the aluminum top?

well it was an ancient candle set i found in a old box and i took the candles out and put it together, its only an inch across and doesnt register for weight on the bathroom scale so im not surebut like i said not near enough fuel for practicallity but something to play around with, i dont know you could probably find a similar size lid off of a booze bottle, not sure tho sorry

Skids-------I think the little dodad is a chassis ventilating plug in thingy.

Fizz saver!!!!!! I have'nt seen one of those in many a moon. good guess though. yah, looks like part of fizz keeper.

SumPunk------Keep lookin in that box for somethin else to make stoves with.:) I went back to a store to buy a stainless steel whiskey chigger and it had been sold. Was going to make it into a stove:) Be sure to wickatise anything you use for a stove.

Hey!!!! new word "WICKATISE" to add a piece of fiberglass cloth to an existing stove or a new one to cause a wicking of the fuel. To enhance burn performance.:banana

If there is a Fred's discount store where you live, look for a 'disposable grill cover'(usually with the grilling and outdoor stuff). It's like hardware cloth but it's made of aluminum.

With a bit of care you can fashion a stand from this material that weighs less than a gram. It won't even register on my scale.

I have had some limited success in burning olive oil in a tealight tin. The advantage is a high BTU fuel that you can also eat. The general problem is slow and smokey. I have tried different wicks. It seemed to work best to fold it up like a clam. It is not good enough to replace alcohol, but it is a good backup and easy to play around with in the woods as I always bring some olive oil and one tealight. Another trick is to add a few drops of olive oil to a tealight once its burned halfway to conserve the wax, but you really need the light of 3 wicks for a good reading and simmering heat.

One thing you really have to be careful of with small oil and wax stoves is that oil and wax can get really really really hot, like 500degF flesh melting bone charring hot, so limit the amount of fuel in play and don't let it spill. A tealight full of _boiling_ hot wax or oil could really really hurt you.

Gentlemen, the 'mini tealight' Toph used is a candle for a small chafing dish (http://cgi.ebay.com/RETRO-CHAFING-DISH-TURQUOISE-ENAMEL-WARE-FONDU-50-60_W0QQitemZ300010629225QQihZ020QQcategoryZ2203QQr dZ1QQcmdZViewItem). I don't think they are made anymore.

That's good. One less stove to build. ;)

actually, its not made of that dish thingy, it was a little candle bought from a younger sousin for some school fundraiser, though i do not doubt they are the same size used
