Is this the premier hiking web site of the country or does WhiteBlaze have a 'sister' website comparable for some of the famous long distance trails out west such as the PCT?

www.backcountry.net (http://www.backcountry.net) predates Whiteblaze, Trailplace, and even the ATC's site. Links there will take you to the PCT official page, the PCT email list, and much more.

Also, www.trailforums.com (http://www.trailforums.com) tends to have more stuff from other trails, and I think a better database retrieval system than this one. It looks a little dinky compared to this, and is not as member oriented, but there really is a wealth of info posted by some of the most publicly prolific trail hikers from the very many other trails outside of the AT social group.

There's www.nwhikers.net (http://www.nwhikers.net). I haven't spent much time there to rate it.

The Newsgroup Backcountry.Rec is the grandaddy of them all, though it is now considered old school and a without an active moderator, has many crossposting and flame throwing.
