Go for it. I can't remember the excat leki poles I have, but I think they are the same ones. Anti-shock, cork grip, angled grips. Nice poles.

Can say without a doubt I absolutely love mine. Angled grips concerned me at first but after I developed my "groove" with my poles I don't think I'll be able to use a pair of straight ones again.

I've got these poles and love the angled grip. I haven't seen any real benefit to the shock absorbers, and others have had trouble with them jamming (not me). I think that I'd prefer a cork handle in lieu of the rubberized handle (my hands sweat). I love the way that the grip extends down onto the pole itself, which is great on very steep uphill sections.

Here are some reviews for a similar model: http://www.backpackgeartest.org/reviews/Trekking%20Poles/Poles/LEKI%20Makalu%20AirErgo%20Antishock%20PA%202002/

thank you for posting the link. I may decide to pick these up. Not sure if they are better than the ones that are always on sale at Sierra Trading Post or not.

The ones in the for sale ad are thermo-foam grip, not cork.
It may be OK, but I really like my cork grip Lekis, they do not get sticky/sweaty. I have no information on the thermo-foam grips.

do angled grips work well when using a trekking pole support a tarp tent?Yep, they work fine. I've used them extensively with my Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo and Europa tents.

Ditto for Shires' Tarptent and open tarps, used them fine on both.

sweet, i went ahead and ordered a pair before they went off of sale. Look forward to using trekking poles finally. My gear list is coming together nicely for my thru-hike next April!
