Just sitting around contemplating that my intended thru for '07 may not happen due to work and house obligations...

Got to thinking... Most everyone gets a week or so of vacation yearly... Would any of you gals be interested in a semi-organized girls-only (thats up for debate as to be girls only) 7 to 10 day hiking trip annually?

Im thinking Denali one year, Peru the next, Acadia in the fall, Zion...

By semi-organized, Im thinking just putting dates and locations together. Im not interested in a tour/guided-type trip, unless the nature of the trip calls for it (like summiting Ranier!)

Is anyone even remotely interested?

It sounds like a really cool idea. Then there is Isle Royale, and New Zealand....

Definitely interested but don't want you to start without me. ;-) Could you plan it in Oct so the thrus could join?

Women-only trips are the bomb. There's a former thru (Midnight) who runs Wildside Adventures For Women (http://www.wildsideadventures.com/) out of Virginia.

Great idea! I've seen Wildside, but don't want to pay for a leader and gear. I'd rather do a girls-hike-out, and just pay for my own trip and gear. I've always wanted to go to Australia and New Zealand. :sun Just like HI, the airfare is extremely expensive. Between Jan. & Apr., you can get a R/T to London for $300 (incl. tax and fees). We could take the Chunnel to Europe, or hike around Wales or Ireland (stunning).

Love the Isle Royale idea! And add Mackinac Island too!my sister will be completing a 5 day hike of Isle Royale today! Tomorrow they take the boat from the campsite on the southern end of Isle Royale to the northeastern point (Rock Harbor) from which she will catch a ferry to Copper Harbor on Tuesday. she's going to a wolf roundtable meeting in St. Ignace later this week and is planning to go to Mac Island for a bike ride around the island. wish I could have joined her!

After my Thru Hike, I might be interested in Hiking in Italy or hiking the Camino de Santiago in Spain.

Of course, all depends on what occurs in the Middle East between now and then. Just like men to throw in a war to cause problems for women wanting to hike overseas. (not really just men, some women/mothers are more vicious than men)

TravelZoo dot com has some great deals on overseas travel.
