Hi!

I read in a post (that I absolutely can not find) that two "stovies" were going to bake potatoes on their alcohol stoves one night.

I would love to know how their potatoes turned out and how they cooked them!

I lined the bottom of my Ti pot with river rocks and put a little water (I had to add more water, as it evaporated at first...) in it. I wrapped a sweet potato in foil. I used a Super Cat Stove with 1 oz of denat. alcohol and I cooked it for 2 cycles...it seemed a little hard still after only one cooking. Although I wonder if maybe I had let it sit in the pot on the hot rocks with the lid on, if it might have continued to cook (I was impatient!).

Anyhoo, my was PERFECT! Even better than from the oven, I think!

Has anyone else tried this?

Suz

Just wrap the potato in aluminum foil and put it in the ash and embers of a camp fire. That will work mo' better for you in the back country.

Thanks HOI! I'm not sure that is the post I saw, but it was interesting!

And yes, SGT Rock, I agree with the camp fire method too, but I am just having WAY TOO much fun trying different 'food stuffs' on the alkie stoves!!!

Have Fun! Suz
