What is the significance of the Swag of the Blueridge????
My oldest daughter went to Ga with me Sunday night and on Monday we slacked from Unicoi Gap to Dicks Creek Gap-the last big section I needed in Ga....we read a bit about this Swag and saw a wooden sign denoting its presence but am very curious about its significance-anyone got any information?
Incendentally we met many starting thru-hikers, enjoyed the awesome views from Tray Mountain. This was my daughters first AT section hiked and she loved it.

According to the guidebook, it is "an exceptionally wide Gap between Tray Mt. and Dismal Mt. It is perhaps the wildest and most inaccesible gap on the AT in Georgia".

I remember hearing it was the official start of the Blue Ridge Mountains...but who knows?

A swag is the dip between two lofty peaks. It's an old tiimey mountain folk term.
