Anyone have any knowledge / opinion of seam cleaners? I purchased McNett's Seam Cleaner ($2.25 for 2 oz.) to prep a sil-nylon tarp for seam sealing. As I was using it, it smelled just like rubbing alcohol. I looked at the bottle - 65% Isopropyl Alcohol is the only listed ingredient. My cheapo drug store bottle of rubbing alcohol is 70% Isopropyl Alcohol. Did I just buy and use expensive rubbing alcohol to prep my seam? :-?

News to me ...I've never "prepped" a seam prior to sealing yet and never had a problem with the silicon adhering to the silnylon.

I should have said that (embarassingly) this is a tarp that I neglected to seam seal before using for a couple of weeks section hike. So, I just want to be sure that the sealer sticks. I'm using McNett's Sil-Net for the actual sealing.
