Royal EX3 Problem

Ive got a Royal EX3 scale, and ive got a problem. It wont do anything. WHen i turn it on, it displays 0.0 for about 1\2 a second, then displays - - - -. Ive tried everything to fix it; replace the battery, place it on different surfaces, ect. I need your help! DO the screws (adjustment?) need to be turned?? Please, i need this scale!!
