Shippensburg, PA off the AT

im trying to find the best place to jump off the trail to get to shippensburg, pa. My sisters graduating from Ship & I pretty much plan on walking off the trail, shaving, bathing, & celebrating. Anyone know of the best place for someone to pick me up to head up to ship?

My parents will be coming from the east on 76 or 81 or 11

any help would be awesome

Hi norfamericana,

Ironically, I just did this section over the weekend on a teaching hike for some scouts. Assuming you are going into Shippensburg, you could have someone meet you at Shippensburg-Arnedtsville Rd. which the AT crosses about 13 miles north of Caledonia.

If you want them to meet you at a place you can get washed up before you go with them (and you are doing this before Labor Day); you can tell them to meet you at Caledonia State Park which the AT goes right through. They have showers and a great pool.

Caladonia State Park is located on Rt. 30, which is about 8 mile east of Rt. 81. Shippensburg is about 12 miles north of Rt. 30 just off of Rt. 81.
