Unless something changes it's going to be held MLK Weekend January 12-14 at the NOC. Details to follow late October after the Gathering- early Nov when I'll do an update on the website.

Is MLK day celebrated in the south?

the sterotypical south doesn't exist anymore. it's 2006 here too, just like everywhere else. it ain't 1865 anymore.

Is MLK day celebrated in the south? Sounds like a loaded question. I would love to celebrate it in the mountains with some hiking friends. How do you celebrate it Boston?:sun

I guess it depends on what part of the city (country) you're from. Although for the most part, I consider Boston an enlightened city, at the time, forced busing/integration didn't go over all that well.

I was refering to the poster (Boston) rather than the city. The question just seemed a little odd, but no big deal.:)

Yeah, I know but "Boston" is from Boston. Being from there myself, I also found the question troubling.

Just curious what road conditions have been like during this time the past couple years.

In 2005 there were no problems sunny and warm (during the day) all weekend.

This past year had rain, then snow overnight on Friday. One hike that starts at Tanyard Gap (back to NOC) on Saturday morning turned into an out and back. If I remember correctly by Sunday afternoon the snow was pretty much gone. Regardless, the weather didn't distract from the good times. Overall, it was a great weekend.

There was a fine layer of snow on the ground, it was quite beautiful.

So was the company.
