Rail service in Harpers Ferry via MARC and Amtrak will be suspended from Tuesday September 5 through Tuesday September 19. This is due to platform work and further reconstruction of thestation building.
Hikers seeking alternate transportation to Harpers Ferry can utilize Amtrak or MARC rail service in Martinsburg, West Virginia and travel to Harpers Ferry via PanTran bus service. The bus route will require a transfer at the VA Hospital enroute to either Harpers Ferry or Martinsburg. PanTran service is available Monday through Saturday although the Saturday service is abbreviated.

Schedules for PanTran www.pantran.com (http://www.pantran.com/)
Schedules for Amtrak: www.amtrak.com (http://www.amtrak.com)
This certainly will be an inconvenience to get to and from the Harpers Ferry trailhead but with proper planning it is achievable. I am a daily commuter on the MARC train and will post updates as they become available.
