Getting dropped off on Tuesday at Monson and will be hiking out at first light on Wednesday the 30th on the 100 Wilderness. Any suggestions on a place to stay? I figured a solid dinner and comfortable bed before the hike is in order although I will probably be to excited to sleep well.

Thanks

Over the past month, I've met and spoken with dozens of Southbound hikers, all of whom passed thru Monson in the past few weeks.

Without exception, everyone I spoke with spoke extremely favorably about the new owners/managers of Shaw's.

It would apear that the transition to new ownership there has been a great success.

I've stayed at the new Shaws, but not at the new Lake Shore House. I've eaten at both. Stay at Shaws, eat supper at the new Pub & Eatery behind Lake Shore or the BBQ joint. A great chef cooks at one, and a grill master at the other - you can't go wrong. Eat breakfast at Shaws, it sits at 6:30, so if you have a ride to the trailhead lined up, be sure to be packed up and ready to go after the meal.

Spent last Friday night at Shaw's and I second TJ's post.
